Attendance
It is anticipated that the RENKEI university partners will support the attendance of 2 students per member, giving 24 students attendees through this route. In addition, it is anticipated that a further 6 students will attend from the hosting institution Tohoku University.

Selection process
Participating universities will conduct an internal process to select their attendees. The interested applicants will submit a one page application that contains the following information:
  • Name and affiliation of the applicant.
  • The applicant view of the theme of the School – stating some of the challenges to be considered and any approach to be discussed at the school. [Maximum 400 words]
  • A case to establish why the applicant should be selected to attend the School. [Maximum 300 words].
RENKEI coordinators or their representatives will assess the applications. Based on the quality of the individual submissions from the RENKEI institutions, the top two candidates will be selected to attend the School.

Registration by 8 August, 2014, with an email to Toshihiko Nakata. Two students per RENKEI University.

Transportation and Accommondation cost
  • Each member university or participants themselves are expected to cover the transportation (including flight cost between the UK and Japan for the UK participants) and accommondation cost in Sendai, Japan.
  • Participants are expected to book a hotel in Sendai by themselves. The hotel information is provided on the website.
  • RENKEI summer school supports costs for invited lectures, class materials, social activities, field trips, etc. RENKEI does not support accommondation nor air fares for participants.
